After a sudden death in our family, we accepted the role of caregiver and began searching for the perfect spot to raise our family, provide care as required and help offset expenses. An emergency bathroom break found us on a quiet road on this serene island in the perfect place that just happened to be for sale. We instantly realized our new home had been found.

“Hideout on Howe is a wonderful, beautiful nature retreat. If you long to get away from hustle and bustle, Hideout on Howe is for you. We woke to the call of Loons and Purple Martins and enjoyed breakfast on the screened-in porch while watching the Herons and Swans. Chris, Courtney and family were attentive and always available, yet never intrusive. There were kayaks with life vests available for our use. And thanks to suggestions for places to explore, we saw River otters, turtles, Pike and much more wildlife. Our hosts even gave us an extensive cruise on the river in their motor boat. Thirsty towels, hand-made soaps and tasteful decor rounded out the experience. We loved our time at Hideout on Howe! Thank you Courtney and Chris! ”

“Amazing place to stay! Our group consisted of mostly couples, so with the set-up of their getaway cottage bunkies, it was perfect for each of us and our own privacy! The dock is huge! We spent most of our time there, enjoying the beautiful weather and cold water! The kitchens were stocked with everything we needed to make our meals. The bathrooms were stocked and very tidy! Chris brought us firewood each night for our night camp fires! Amazing hospitality! Chris & Courtney are great hosts & people!”

“Best opportunity to discover Canada and the 1000 islands. You can’t beat the spot. Your cottage is placed on an island, right on the water, so waking up means, having a beautiful view over the lake and the island. Coming there by a ferry is already the entry to a place which is just nature pure. The cottage is decorated with love and offers all you need to be self-sufficient. Chris and Courtney def. rock and will do everything to give you an incredible time at their place. Boat-tours, fishing, etc. and local tips is going to make a stay here totally different than staying in a usual hotel. Either you can chill with them or take your private time and chill on the deck and enjoy amazing sunsets. Stayed here for 3 nights with 3 people and def. recommend it. If you have more time than we did, take the cottage as long as possible.”

“We stayed at the red cottage. It is a great place for a getaway. Beautiful waterfront, clean rooms and a decent cottage overall with everything one would need to have a good time. And as far as the hosts, Courtney and Chris, what can I say? Truly lovely and very friendly people. They genuinely care that their guests have an amazing time. The boat ride around the islands was the icing on the cake. Chris is a fantastic guide explaining every little island in detail. It’s been nothing but a pleasurable couple of days. Highly recommended.”
